Joanna - Keto In Canada
 is a low carb keto lifestyler (it's not a diet!) from Ontario, Canada. She is a mum of 2 really cute kids AND 2 furbabies! With work and a whole bunch of responsibilities, she found it difficult to make herself a priority after having children. She started following keto on December 1, 2016 (and is going strong!) and created her Instagram account @ketoincanada to get accountability and ideas from others following the ketogenic diet.

One of the things I have LOVED about her is that she is able to stick to her lifestyle with a packed schedule and on the go! I was at the Food Starter warehouse a few weeks ago and found myself finding THAT post on her Instagram with her favourite Pita Pit salad because I know she's done the hard work to figure out macros! So, we stalked her Instagram and tracked down her favourites restaurant hacks and estimated net carbs where possible!

1) Large Chicken Caeser Salad

“My favourite salad from @pitapitcanada is a large chicken Caesar salad with extra bacon, spinach, tomato, green pepper, cucumber, red onion, sprouts, cheddar cheese, and caesar dressing. It’s Renee’s mighty caesar which is the best caesar dressing on earth”

Net carbs (estimate): 9 net carbs without dressing. With dressing, between 9 - 18 net carbs.

2) Chicken Breast Salad with Steak added

“For this salad I got a chicken breast salad with steak added as the double meat. If you can’t decide, just get both!  🙌🏻This was my first time straying from my usually chicken bacon salad and it was really good. This salad was 16 net carbs but for a lower carb option try the caesar dressing.”

Greeking Out Salad

“This is the Greeking Out salad from @mcdonaldscanada. Luckily the grills were running this day 🙄🙄🙄😂😂😂 Yes it had couscous in it and yes that is a giant diet coke hat I refilled 3 times”

Net carbs (estimate): “I’d like to confirm that this salad is officially 16 net carbs with the couscous. If you request them to make it without the couscous it’s only 6 net carbs with all the dressing. So I might do that a bit more often to make it less carb heavy! ❤️”

TIP: Skip the pita crisps and ask for grilled chicken instead of crispy!

Avocado Chicken Salad

“I tried the new avocado chicken salad from @wendyscanada. It has 11 net carbs and 41 grams of fat. I do like the fact that I could order this in the drive thru without having to customize at all. Going to have another shot today but with ranch dressing. The avocado was also really yummy!”

1) Double leg dinner with a Caesar salad, Bacon added and Chalet Sauce

“Quick lunch at @swisschaletca today. Double leg dinner with a Caesar salad with bacon added and chalet sauce. I only ate about 1/4 of the chalet sauce” 


2) Double leg dinner

Lunch today was a double leg dinner from @swisschaletca. I got a side garden salad (picked off the carrots because I didn’t want the carbs from them today) with caesar dressing. Also got a side of pesto mayo bacon, and the chalet sauce.

Note on Net Carbs (estimate):

Sauce -  “100 ml or 6 tablespoons is 5 net carbs. The chicken is zero carbs. I had a third of the sauce they gave me (On the 2nd dinner pictured above)”

“A great option if you’re out and about at @bostonpizzacanada you can grab the chipotle chicken club with a side caesar 👍🏻I haven’t worked out the macros yet but you might want to swap the caesar chipotle dressing for something else as it does have some sugar.”
