JOI’s chocolate banana dairy-free ice cream (also called “nice cream”) is a gluten-free, dairy-free alternative you’re guaranteed to love. It uses a combination of frozen bananas and JOI plant base to create a delicious, smooth, vegan ice cream base that has the consistency of soft serve. No need for laborious churning that could take hours or a fancy ice cream maker - all you need is a high speed blender or food processor. This is cream is infused and drizzled with Munch Life Chocolate Hazelnut Butter and we couldn't think of a more iconic pairing! Finally, this recipe mixes in chocolate chips, hazelnuts, and almonds to add crunch and texture. If you're the sort of person who loves cookie dough chunks in your ice cream, you'll love the delicious texture of this nice cream! 

Fully vegan and plant-based, no need to sacrifice your sweet tooth to ditchy dairy, ditch cartons, and do something good for the earth.   1. Plan ahead and slice and freeze the bananas.
  2. In a food processor or high speed blender, blend the bananas, ¼ cup Munch Life Chocolate Hazelnut Butter, JOI Nutmilk Base, water, and sea salt.
  3. Blend until smooth. You may need to stop every so often and break apart the frozen bananas. 
  4. When the mixture is smooth, add in the hazelnuts and chocolate chips. Pulse 5-6 times until combined. Do not overblend - you want some chunky texture from the toasted hazelnuts and chocolate chips.
  5. Scoop the chocolate banana ice cream base into a loaf pan and smooth out the top. Place in freezer.
  6. In a microwave safe bowl, heat the remaining ¼ cup of Munch Life Chocolate Hazelnut Butter in 30 second intervals until pourable.
  7. Take the loaf pan out of the freezer and pour over the liquid Munch Life Chocolate Hazelnut Butter over the top of the chocolate banana ice cream. Using a spoon or knife, swirl around the spread.
  8. Top with slivered almonds and a few extra chocolate chips and freeze at least 2 hours. Scoop out and enJOI!
