Main Ingredients Used

The filling is made with a creamy mix of whipping cream, sour cream, lime juice and Key Lime Keto Chow.  Whipped into a perfect creamy texture that is irresistibly delicious.

The Crust is made with a PSMF bread recipe with a mix of the Egg White Protein Powder, egg whites, cream of tartar and xanthan gum.

Step by Step Instructions

Crust

Step 1: In a mixer combine 1 cup of egg whites and 2 tsp of cream of tartar until you get stiff peaks.

Step 2: In a small bowl combine, 1/3 cup of Muskoka Mornings Egg White Protein Powder with 1 Tbsp of nutritional yeast, 1 tsp of Swerve confectioners sugar, 1/8 of tsp of active yeast and 1 tsp of xantham gum with a dash of salt.

Step 3: With your mixer on, mix together the wet and dry ingredients for approximately 2 minutes.

Step 4: Preheat oven to 325. Then place about 1/4 of the bread "dough" in a pie plate. Leave the pie shell in oven for ONLY 15 minutes! then take OUT!  Let pie shell completely cool!

Filling

Step 1: Use a mixer to whip together the heavy whipping cream and sweetener on high speed until stiff peaks form.

Step 2: Zest limes and then juice them.

Step 3: Add sour cream, lime juice and zest, Key Lime Keto Chow, and egg yolks to the whipped cream and mix until combined.

Step 4: Pour the key lime filling into the baked pie crust, sprinkling on more zest if desired. Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes.

Step 5: Remove pie and let cool for at least 30 minutes and then refrigerate for at least 6 hours but preferably overnight. When ready to serve, add whipped cream to top, if desired.

You can make pizza, sandwich bread, pitas, crepes, ice cream and even use it to make a low carb royal icing for cookies and cakes. You can also mix it in coffee, smoothies and bake zucchini pancakes!

Is egg white protein powder the same as egg white powder?

They are fairly similar, but egg white protein powder is more allergy-friendly, so consider egg white protein powder if you have allergies to dairy.

Crust

  • 1 cup of egg whites
  • 2 tsp of cream of tartar
  • 1/3 cup of egg white protein powder
  • 1 Tbsp of nutritional yeast
  • 1 tsp of powdered erythritol
  • 1/8 of tsp of active yeast
  • 1 tsp of xanthan gum
  • dash of salt

Filling

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/3 cup powdered erythritol
  • 1/3 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup lime juice (about 2 large limes)
  • 1 Tbsp lime zest
  • 1 serving Key Lime Keto Chow
  • 2 large egg yolks
